Firestone Tire and Rubber Company was established in 1900 by Harvey Firestone and was one of the earliest mass producers of tires. Emerging around the same time as the Ford Motor Company, Firestone Tires became its original equipment supplier of tires.

Purchased by the Bridgestone Company in 1988, Firestone tires are widely known as a respectable mid-range option that offers drivers performance, durability and value for their money.

On this page, we discuss three of Firestone’s all-season/all-weather products, the WeatherGrip, the All Season and the Destination LE2. Also, you can check the Firestone Destination X/T.

Firestone WeatherGrip

All weathers are a relatively recent innovation that gives drivers greater confidence in more unfavourable conditions. Still not recommended for heavy snowstorms and severe winter driving conditions, all-weather tires, like Firestone’s WeatherGrip touring edition for coupes, family sedans, CUVs and station wagons, still deliver reliable performance and quality in all other conditions – good and bad.

Some features of the WeatherGrip include:

  • A three-peak mountain snowflake certification by the tire industry, rating them as a serviceable tire in all but the most extreme driving conditions when a dedicated winter tire is recommended.
  • All-weather tire compound molded in a directional pattern for optimal traction
  • Firestone’s Hydro-Grip™ technology for safely traversing standing water and deep grooves combined with open shoulder slots for enhanced hydroplane resistance.
  • Bevelled shoulder blocks that increase the WeatherGrip’s contact with the road, giving you better control and shorter braking distances.
  • Snow Traction Claw™ Technology deployed on the centre and shoulder ribs, vices on the intermediate ribs that pulls tire, vehicle and driver safely through snow and ice.
  • High-density zig-zag sipes for even greater traction in snow and even treadwear.
  • Two steel belts wrapped in single-ply polyester and a nylon reinforcement to give the WeatherGrip the handling it needs at higher speeds.
  • Firestone’s 65,000 mile/105,000-kilometer Limited Warranty and 90-Day Buy and Try Guarantee.

Firestone All Season

Firestone All Seasons are made to be an affordable and reliable tire for drivers of sedans, minivans, crossovers and coupes. All season tires in general are designed for dependable driving on wet and dry surfaces.

Benefits of Firestone’s All Season tires include:

  • Silica-enhanced compound to keep the tire flexible and more responsive in colder temperatures.
  • Symmetric tread design that makes rotating your tires more convenient
  • Deep sipes for traction in rain and light snow
  • Circumferential grooves that help evacuate water from beneath the All Season’s contact patch for reducing the risk of hydroplaning.
  • Low rolling resistance for added fuel efficiency and a quiet, comfortable ride.

Firestone Destination LE2

Firestone’s Destination LE2 is the manufacturer’s all-season tire model for light passenger trucks, vans, crossovers and SUVs. Again, even though the Destination LE2 is classified as an all-season tire, it’s not rated for severe weather conditions. Having said that, it is still a reliable tire in various weather conditions.

Some of the Destination LE2’s features include:

  • Continuous closed shoulder blocks that support performance on dry surfaces and extended wear life.
  • A silica-enhanced tire compound molded into a symmetric tread pattern that optimizes the Destination LE2’s traction on wet, dry and light snow.
  • Circumferential grooves, sweeping slots and zigzag sipes for added traction on wet surfaces.
  • Stepped inside shoulder rib notches that, together with the zigzag sipes, provide biting edges on light snow.
  • Notched shoulder blocks and a centre rib designed to enhance handling and cornering stability.
  • Twin, nylon-reinforced steel belts and a polyester cord body that combine to deliver durability and a smooth, comfortable ride.
